The mirror represents his shield, on which is written:

Sun & Moon Mirrors : The different mixtures of the metals in the bronze of copper and tin and additional silver or gold, resulted in a diversity of bronzes and colors. The Tibetan language has five words for bronze. These different quality's of the metals associate them with different cosmic bodies and elements. Silver or silver colored mirrors represent the Moon and the salty waters. Golden or gold colored mirrors represent the Sun and Fire.

Mirrors and Water are different mediums for transmitting blessings and spiritual cleaning that work closely together. A mirror can be cleaned with Holy water and water can be blessed with a Mirror. In Tibet an image can be spiritually cleaned, by pooring Holy water over the reflexion of the image, in a Mirror.

In many cultures Divine beings are depicted with a mirror.
The mirrors are not a symbol of vanity, they are the cosmic proof of their divine origin.
They are a Solar symbol of superior energy enlightening the beings in the third dimension.
In the hands of the adept they are a symbol of introspection, a tool to examine our shadow side
and when we recognize this, to expel it.
When we understand that these bronze discs where the first tools humans had to manipulate light,
we can imagine the power-full effect the Shaman, the Lama, the monk or the priest could evoke working with this Divine tool.
